As the basketball season intensifies across South America, our scouting department has finalized the evaluation process for the upcoming monthly ranking update. While the official list will be released this May 10th, recent standout performances in local leagues and international call-ups have already triggered significant movement within our database.
New Faces on the Board
Two prospects have made an undeniable case to join the Latin Prospects official rankings this month. In Brazil, Igor Williams (2012) from Mogi has captured attention with a historic run. Meanwhile, in Argentina, Felipe Barrionuevo (2005), point guard for Independiente de Oliva, has seen his stock soar following a dominant performance in the high-stakes Reclassification playoffs of the Liga Nacional.
Stock on the Rise: Scouting Notes
Our scouts have identified several players who are currently outperforming their previous evaluations:
- Regional Dominance: Davih Alves (2012) continues to challenge for the top spot in his category, while Ruan Kennedy (2010) has solidified his status following an invitation to the Brazil U18 National Team training camp.
- Clutch Performers: In Argentina, Juan Cruz Locatelli (2009) of Peñarol has proven to be an elite scoring threat in high-pressure moments. Additionally, Gonzalo Aman’s production in the LDD and his preparation for the AmeriCup, along with the increased solidity of Martin Chapero (2007), mark them as players to watch.
- Consistency and Quality: Brazilian prospects Guilherme Alessanco (Corinthians) and Igor Valverde (Santo André) have provided elite contributions in points and rebounds. Michael Alexandre (Paulistano) and Rafael Aguiar (Pinheiros) also maintain a scoring pace that will see them climb the boards in the next update.
